A melting pot of civilisations right at the heart of the Mediterranean, this trio of islands have been travelled and occupied by the Greeks, Romans, French and British powers before providing us with the beautiful holiday destination it is today!
Thousands of years of history and culture is in abundance with mystical dungeons and stunning architecture to discover. Malta is widely known for its free standing Megalithic Temples along with eight other World Heritage Sites across the island.
Life in Malta is a fascinating blend of character, tradition and scenic backdrops that has left single holiday makers in awe. Golden-coloured stone compliments deep blues from the Mediterranean sea and makes the perfect ambiance to unwind.
For the fun loving solo travellers, Malta offers a packed calendar of events all year round.
Located on the north east coast of Malta one finds the small town of Silema, famous for it's shopping, restaurants and café life. Sliema boasts a wide and long promenade which locals refer to as the Front, perched over a strip of rocky coast, with a stunning view of the Mediterranean sea and picturesque bays. It's a pleasant spot after sunset where the locals enjoy a leisurely stroll referred to as passigiata.
Conviently situated between the historical city of Valletta and the vibrant town of St Julian's where you will find the best nightlife the island has to offer.
Located on the prestigious promenade known as “Malta’s Golden Mile”, tucked away in a quaint and quiet corner, enjoying magnificent views of the picturesque St. Julian’s Bay you will find the Plaza Regency Hotel. The hotel is centrally located with the bustling promenade right on your doorstep and within easy walking distance to the main shopping district of Sliema and to the vibrant town of Paceville which is famous for it's night life. Sliema's rocky beaches which stretch along the promenade are just a stone throw away and the hotel is in close proximity to access public transport.
Meet up with your fellow solo travellers after a long day of sight seeing on the rooftop sun terrace with swimming pool and enjoy the views while enjoying the evening entertainment in the summer months. The hotel offers a choice of dining options with a pizzeria, main buffet restaurant and weekly evening barbecue held on the sun terrace in the summer. Or just simply relax and unwind at one of the 2 bars located within the hotel.
The hotel is an ideal destination for those wishing to be in close proximity to Valletta, St Julians and Paceville and who wish to have the best of both worlds while on holiday in Malta. Taking in the historical sights during the day and availing oneself to the exciting night life which is on offer in the area.

Day 2 – Medina and Craft Centre (Half Day)
Today’s excursion takes us to the central part of Malta that is dominated by the ancient citadel of Medina, once the Island`s capital city and steeped in history. Join us as we navigate through the narrow streets and mysterious alleyways of Mdina, also known as the “silent city”, that lead us to the awe-inspiring bastions from which we can take in an almost 360 degree panoramic view of the island. We leave Mdina through the Greek Gate and proceed to the catacombs of St Paul followed by a short drive to the south west of the island to Dingli cliffs which offer us breath taking views of the open sea and the tiny island of Filfla.
After a lovely lunch we then move on to the botanic gardens of San Anton, home to some of the islands rarest plants and trees and now home of the President of the Republic. Next we visit Mosta and its impressive dome, one of the largest standing unsupported domes in Europe. Our last stop will be to the crafts centre at Ta` Qali where we can see glass blowing, pottery and filigree all at first hand and where we have ample time for shopping for souvenirs. A truly complete excursion capturing the central highlights of Malta.
Day 3 – Island of Gozo
While enjoying your lovely holiday in Malta, one cannot miss this fantastic full day excursion to Gozo which is only a twenty minute ferry crossing away. As soon as we set foot in the pretty Gozitan port of Mgarr we notice that although both islands are similar in history and development, Gozo has character entirely of its own. We can see that Gozo boasts of more greenery than Malta with its hilly landscape and picturesque countryside, making it an island full of charm waiting to be discovered.
In this excursion we visit all the popular landmarks of Gozo such as the Citadel in Victoria, the famous Azur Window in Dwejra and the rocky cliffs in Xlendi Bay. Also included is a delicious three course lunch together with a spectacular cultural experience with a visit to Ggantijja Temples which are known to be the oldest freestanding temples in the world. We will visit the sanctuary of Ta’ Pinu that is dedicated to Our Lady that is beautifully situated in the Gozitan countryside. Since Gozo is well known for its woolen goods and handmade lace, honey and cheese we will also visit the market where we will have free time for shopping and to sample all these at first hand.
Day 4 – Day at leisure or Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk (Half Day) - (optional extras)
There is no better way to enjoy a truly relaxing Sunday morning with us on a fantastic optional excursion that starts off by taking us to one of Malta's jewels, the Blue Grotto, with its dazzling blue sea that will definitely leave a striking impression. If weather permits, we are given the opportunity to take a boat ride (the boat fee is not included) around the caves and grottoes where we can appreciate the luminescent corals and glowing water at first hand. Next stop brings together old and new with a visit to a modernised quarry, the Limestone Heritage that explains farmhouse building, stone decoration and quarrying which is one of the foremost trades in Malta. This wonderful tour comes to an end after we visit the serene bay of Marsaxlokk, the main fishing village in Malta.
One cannot miss all the luzzus, which are the Maltese fishing boats, lined accross the bay in their traditional colours that compliment the ever popular open air market that is held daily along the promenade. Here we will have time to browse through the numerous stalls and enjoy hunting for the many bargains that always make this excursion one of the most pleasant mornings whilst in Malta.
Day 5 – Capital Valletta (Half Day)
Our guided tour will take you to the lively streets of our capital city of Valletta. Our first stop will be the Barracca Gardens which are built atop the defensive bastions that surround this majestic city. These gardens, built by the Knights of St.John, command breath taking views of the Grand Harbour and the fortified Three Cities. Next we go to St John`s Co-Cathedral that brims in riches with its contrasting decorated interior and also holds an impressive display of Baroque art, including the acclaimed Caravaggio painting that is on display in the Oratory of this opulent Cathedral. We also visit the Church Museum which has on display beautiful Flemish tapestries. We then proceed with an interesting walk where we can appreciate the capital’s buildings of historical importance. A farewell dinner is orgainsed at a local restaurant in Sliema within walking distance to your hotel.
Day 6 – Day at leisure
Day 7 - Day at leisure or Harbour Cruise (optional extras)
This cruise will take you around many creeks & ports to give you wonderful views of Valleta & Three Cities as seen from the sea.
Day 8 – Departure to the UK
The Barracca Gardens highlight a stunning view of the Grand Harbour on this guided tour. St. John’s Cathedral is the next stop where you can stand within richly decorated architecture dating as far back as the Knights of Malta’s prominence. Discover a tapestry from the Flemish Renaissance on a visit to the Church Museum and then take in the spectacular view from outside the Grand Masters Palace and other significant buildings. The last stop portrays Malta’s storied history in a multi-vision show simply named the Malta Experience.
This ancient fortress is named the ‘silent city’ and dominates part of central Malta with narrow passages that lead to breathtaking views of the island. Passing through the ‘Greek Gate’ on the way out of Mdina provides a few moments to admire catacombs of late Maltese ancestry before meeting at the cliffs at Dingli. Lunchtime brings us to San Anton’s botanic gardens and Mosta’s Parish Church with an impressive domed roof feature to remember. A craft centre at Ta’ Qali provides an opportune moment to shop for gifts or mementos of your visit.
Gozo’s unique nature is only a 20 minute ferry crossing from Malta that will breathe fresh air into your experience of its culture, green hills and scenic landscape. Notable attractions to discover include the bay at Xlendi, Azur Window in Dwejra and the citadel in Victoria. Local handmade goods are well worth a look for intricately stitched wool and lace materials.
