Singles Tours Sri Lanka

The island nation of Sri Lanka sits in a pool of beautiful blue in the Northern Indian Ocean. It is home to 1000’s of years of culture - with immense statues, incredible ruins and hordes of beautiful shrines to prove it, seemingly endless beaches that come complete with welcoming turquoise waters and warm white sands that are more often than not pristine and barely touched and a legion of fantastic attractions and things to do - whether your tastes are with cultural exploration, flavourful cuisine or water sports such as diving and swimming, you’ll find everything you need on a singles holiday to Sri Lanka.

After check in at your Global Tower hotel in Colombo. Meet your host for a tour of Colombo that will take in the 100-year-old British Colonial clock tower, Independence Square, Nelum Pokuna, Pettah Bazaar and BMICH. After a day of exploration you’ll end with dinner and an overnight Stay at Global Towers Hotel - which enjoys a perfect beachside location as well as a full collection of other amenities.

After breakfast you’ll head out to Pinnawala and the The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The orphanage dates back to the 1970‘s and is assisted by local and foreign elephant experts - ensuring the best possible conditions for the elephants. Perhaps the most enchanting part of the day will be when you see the baby elephants being bottle-fed and the entire herd taking a bath in the river. From there you’ll head to the UNESCO listed Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as Jambukola Viharaya. The caves’ royal heritage dates all the way back to the 1st century BC and there are hundreds of statues of kings and gods to explore, including a 14 metre Buddha statue.
You’ll recuperate with a dinner and overnight Stay at Green Paradise Agro Eco Hotel in Pinnawala - which enjoys a perfect location amongst lush forest and comes with a great collection of amenities including outdoor pools and a bright open plan that takes advantage of the hotel’s setting.

After breakfast you’ll transfer from Dambulla to Sigiriya - which is the home of Sri Lanka's most popular historic site. This 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa spans some 200 meters and was home to the king’s palace on top of the rock. Colourful frescoes can still be seen adorning the walls and are world-renowned for lasting through the ages and their awe-inspiring beauty. When you climb along the side of the rock you’ll come face to face with the ruins of a gigantic lions paw, which forms an incredible gateway to the caves. Afterwards you’ll transfer to the historic capital Polonnaruwa to explore the World Heritage site of the ancient city. The ruins of the Royal Palace can be seen even today along with the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, the statue of King Parakramabahu, a Shivan Temple and much more.

After breakfast at the beautiful Green Paradise Agro Eco Hotel you’ll visit the infamous town of Matale, which is best known for its fragrant spice gardens. Here you’ll get to witness the intricate processes involved in creating some of the world’s best spices and a cookery demonstration to teach you how to prepare traditional curries using local spices.

The Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya covers approximately 147 acres and is home to over 4,000 species of plants including some of the most beautiful orchids in all of Asia. Next you’ll visit the USESCO listed city of Kandy, which was the last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings, before the country was brought under British rule in 1815. The Temple of the Tooth Relic is the most significant highlight of the city along with the Kandy Lake, the main town and other attractions. You’ll stay in the 5-star Earl's Regency Hotel in Kandy, which is set in a tudor style house in the middle of beautifully landscaped gardens. The hotel has an impressive collection of air-conditioned rooms and a lengthy lists of amenities that includes private bathtubs, fireplaces, private bar, fine dining restaurant and more. Don’t miss the incredible views of the surrounding hillside.

You’ll take breakfast at the Earl's Regency Hotel in Kandy, which overlooks the Mahaweli River and the nearby mountain ranges before you, transfer from Kandy to the Tea Plantation and tea factory. This fascinating trip will give you an insight into the in’s and out’s of tea grading, and give you a walk-through of the manufacturing process. The highlight of your visit will be enjoying the classic taste of a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory. From there you’ll ascend into the beautiful hills of Nuwara Eliya where you’ll come face-to-face with stunning green hills and one of Sri-Lanka’s best 18-hole golf courses.

You’ll enjoy your breakfast at the 5-star Jetwing St. Andrew's Hotel before enjoying a day in Sri Lanka’s fantastic wilderness. This is a great day for the adventurers amongst you as you’ll journey to the Kelani River to go white water rafting. The river's pure waters start in the heart of the wilderness reserve and tumbles through a rocky gorge just above Kithulgala. As you progress you’ll pass the scenic location of the river where the movie The Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed before heading back to Colombo.

After a restful night in the Global Towers Hotel in Colombo you’ll take breakfast and take one last look at beautiful Sri Lanka before transferring from Colombo to the Airport for departure.

Tour Highlights

Sigiriya Rock Citadel

Sigiriya or the The Lion Rock rises some 200m out of the plains of central Sri Lanka. It’s located in the cultural triangle formed by Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy - which is home to 5 of Sri Lanka’s 8 UNESCO listed World Heritage sites. The citadel is reached by ascending the 1200 steps to the summit and once there you’ll be in awe of the incredible caves, temples and rugged rock formations. The ancient frescoes found on the cave walls are still remarkably well preserved and offer a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s ancient culture and are a must see for history fans.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is one for the nature fans. Home to a large herd of elephants from more than 3 generations - you can feed the elephants and watch the herd in the river. The scenery too is quite beautiful, with lush jungle and quaint towns close by.

You may accidentally overlook Sri Lanka’s capital city Colombo on your way to the rest of the incredible attractions on this tour to Sri Lanka, but if you take a little time here you’ll be rewarded with beautiful colonial buildings, vibrant markets and lengths of beautiful beachfront. In between all this you’ll find a city that collects all the cultures, scents, colours and sounds of Sri Lanka and condenses them into an exciting and fun city which layers modernity with the arts, fine dining with cultural heritage and scenic beaches with lively shopping opportunities.

Tea tasting

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to taste some wonderful tea whilst in Sri Lanka, but none better than the Tea Plantation and factory in Kandy. Sri Lanka is of course home to the world-renowned Ceylon tea (Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon until the 1970’s), and you’ll get to taste some freshly made Ceylon at the tea plantation, as well as an introduction to the process of tea grading and the production methods used in the manufacture of Ceylon tea.

Kandy is incredibly serene and easy-going - it’s filled to bursting with a wonderful collection of architecture, which spans colonial and traditional Sri Lankan. There’s a beautiful little market that is always bustling and a picturesque lake in the middle of town - all of which is surrounded by acres of lush countryside.

Rafting through the Kelani River

The picturesque Kelani River covers 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids and is a great way to end a perfect singles tour to Sri Lanka. You’ll cover no less than 5km of white waters and pass through beautiful forest scenery and undoubtedly see some of the country’s colourful flora and fauna as you raft your way down river.
